BIRTHDAY PARTY IDEAS

Houston Birthday Party Ideas

Birthday parties are a way to celebrate a milestone’s in one’s life. What better way to show your love than to honor them with a celebration aboard their own private yacht. And a lively party is also a great way to shake off the fact that we’re all getting older!

Birthday party ideas can be centered on the birthday honoree’s vocation or hobby as well as using a “decade” as a theme. For example, if the person is a pre-school teacher ask the guests to come dressed as four year olds. Then decorate the yacht with preschool toys. If the honoree is an engineer, use erector sets as table decorations.

A Decade Party is based on a certain decade in our country’s history. Below are some good examples:

SOCK HOP 50s

These were the days of “shake, rattle and roll”, Bobby socks and poodle skirts:

  • Voicemail the invitation to background music from the 50’s while people are at work
  • Men wear tight white T-shirts with a pack of cigarettes rolled up in one sleeve…don’t forget the black leather jacket!
  • Women wear white, off-the-shoulder blouses, bobby socks and a pony tail.
  • Have a dance contest with the Stroll, the Mashed Potatoe and the Twist.
  • Display life-sized figures of Marilyn Monroe or Elvis Presley. Take a photo of the guests as they board with their arm around the character.
  • Borrow someone’s classic car to park in front of the gangway
  • Have a hula hoop contest
  • Have our Star Fleet chef prepare hamburgers, hot dogs and French fries

SURFIN 60s

This was the decade of the Beach Boys, the Beatles, the Surfing Craze and Hippies.

  • Record a voicemail invitation with the Beatles playing in the background and an occasional break for an inhale on your joint
  • Dress in tie-dyed T-shirts, bell bottoms, sandals, headbands, sunglasses and lots of bead necklaces
  • Decorate with Yellow Submarine posters, black lights and Beatles paraphernalia
  • Serve a fruit and vegetable display on a surfboard

BIRTHDAY PARTIES - HELPFUL HINTS

OPENING PRESENTS

This is a tricky one. Reading out the name of the “Gift Giver” then opening the presents could be an embarrassment for some…UNLESS it’s a “white elephant” or “gag gift” situation. Safest bet…have a table set aside for gifts then have someone lock them in the trunk of a car prior to the yacht departing so they do not get damaged.

BIRTHDAY CAKE

Let your Cruise Consultant know to substitute a birthday cake for dessert on your lunch or dinner menu to add a special touch. Have Star Fleet’s Chef write a special message on the cake and bring decorations for the top of the cake that will commemorate the guest of honor’s hobbies or interests.

THE ROAST

One important element of an adult birthday party is to have someone close to the guest of honor make a birthday toast. This is your chance to make the guest of honor feel loved, honored or totally embarrassed! Seriously, the roast should end on a positive, caring note with a heart-felt acknowledgement of the guest of honor’s importance in your life.

THIS IS YOUR LIFE VIDEO

Have friends and family send you any photos or videos of the birthday boy or girl so you can put together a hilarious, totally embarrassing video to be shown while cruising.
